In the morning of July 17, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized a workshop on proposing projects to support the development of cashew, pepper and fruit trees in Vietnam.

At the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh said that the two sectors of rice and coffee were supported by the VNSAT project funded by the World Bank. The remaining three branches of cashew, pepper and fruit trees are also important sectors of our agricultural sector, which have been and are products of export value, but the sectors have limitations, exist and need to support projects like VNSAT through supporting capital, policy mechanisms, participation of localities, businesses, cooperatives and farmers.

Reportedly, in June 2016, the World Bank had a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development saying that it would send a working group to Vietnam to follow up and discuss more about this project proposal.

“If the approved project will address the challenges posed to these industries of our country, it is a matter of providing quality cashew, pepper and fruit trees to processing plants with. Secondly, the production of cashew, pepper and fruit trees is of high quality for export to meet the market demand.

The third is to improve basic infrastructure for agricultural and industrial activities such as access to energy, road networks and technology centers. Finally, adjust the support solutions for small and medium enterprises, including facilitating access to finance, taxes and other policy adjustments, creating more jobs for young people “, Deputy Minister Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh said.
